Aimee is AMAZING! We're happy that we availed a private course with her. First of all, she's very flexible... she adjusted her schedule to fit ours and to be able to cover every topic before our little one arrived. 💕 She's also great in discussing stuff.. well versed, she knows what she's saying, very open and encourages you to not hesitate to ask any questions. Come the main event arrived, we managed to be as calm as we can be. We went to the hospital prepared, practiced all the tips and lessons we discussed with Aimee. Didn't managed to deliver the way I originally planned but, I have no feelings of regret or disappointment to myself as we discussed during the course to manage expectations. My husband also learned a lot of things in this course and it helped him help me during the preparation, labor and after birth. We're so grateful that we met Aimee and had done this course with positivity during our birthing journey. ❤️

I would really recommend completing a session with Aimee. It was really informative. Even on my second pregnancy there was alot I didn't know. The resources given were really valuable and it gave me a much better understanding of what choices were available to me.

My husband and I did the full 10 hours private course which we both found very informative. Before starting the course I was very apprehensive about giving birth and had a negative view because of stories I had heard from others. Aimee was friendly and made us feel very comfortable from the first session and as we continued with each session, my view of birth began to change. I now feel positive and feel ready for however my birth story may be. Between the sessions, Aimee was available to answer questions and the materials she gave us were very helpful. I loved that she tailored the sessions to our particular circumstances. Thank you Aimee for all your help and advice.

My husband and I did Aimee's private hypnobirthing course in November 2022. It was very insightful and informative for us being first time parents. After the course, I felt it put my mind at ease, I wasn't as anxious about birth and it prepared us with the knowledge to help with any situation that may arise. We would strongly recommend Aimee's course to any expectant parents :)

We recently took Aimee's positive hypnobirthing course to help prepare for the arrival of the 4th member of our family. Aimee is an amazing hypnobirthing instructor who puts you at ease right from the start. She is a great listener, knowledgeable about hypnobirthing and flexible to our needs, adapting the course accordingly. The resources were inciteful and were explained in highly relateble manner. Aimee empowers everyone involved in the process including our three year old son (who is a big fan of Aimee) and we are grateful for her help.

Sarah's birth story

Hospital Hypnobirth

My last day of work was Thursday 12th Jan before maternity leave, I was about 39 weeks at this point. Here in Qatar once you get to around 37/38 weeks the doctors like to see you every week. On Wednesday I went to see my doctor and agreed to an examination (on my previous check my cervix had already started shortening and my first baby came quite quickly so my doctor wanted to check if things had progressed) only to find I was already 3cm dilated! I hadn’t felt anything like a surge really, maybe the odd tightening but nothing like a contraction. The doctor asked me to come in and see her on Friday if nothing had progressed by then so she could see how we were doing.

Sarah's birth story

That night I went home feeling a little apprehensive/ excited that I might be meeting my baby sooner than I thought. All I kept thinking was that I had one more day of work to get through! That night my husband and I put up the next to me crib for the baby, made sure the hospital bag was packed and I used all the strategies that Aimee had taught us to get the oxytocin flowing and try to relax. I listened to the pregnancy relaxation track, bounced on my ball, had a bath and went to bed nice and early. The next day nothing had happened, I wasn’t having surges (that I was aware of) and I felt okay so I went off to work as normal. Friday came around (the weekend here in Qatar) and I really wasn’t sure if I wanted to go back to the hospital.

The doctor had said that if I was 4cm dilated I would be admitted. I was a bit reluctant, and because from Aimee’s course, we knew the best place to labour is somewhere you feel relaxed and calm and I was keen to labour as much as possible at home before going to the hospital. I was worried that if I was in early labour things would stall when I got to hospital.

At this point I had a chat with Aimee and used my BRAIN to make a decision about what to do next. I decided to go into hospital with my husband, leaving my toddler with our friends. When I arrived in the afternoon I was put on the CTG monitor which showed I was having pretty regular surges, although I couldn’t really feel them at this point. I agreed to another examination and I was almost 5cm dilated and therefore admitted. I was very nervous about this because I was now in a very clinical environment and in early labour.

Thanks to Aimee’s course, I had created a birth plan which I immediately shared with the midwives and my doctor at the hospital. Because of what we had learnt, my husband and I felt confident in advocating for what I wanted and needed during labour. We asked for the lights to be dimmed, I was bought a yoga ball and asked to be left alone. I was asked to put on a hospital gown but I politely declined and put my comfortable pyjamas and slippers on in an effort to stay as comfortable as possible.

My husband bought the bags in and got me set up then left to make sure my daughter was okay and put her to bed before our Nanny arrived to look after her over night. I stayed at the hospital and listened to pregnancy relaxation tracks, bounced on my ball and listened to podcasts and tried to get in the zone. I used wave breathing to help me relax and up breathing through each surge. I could feel surge now but I was still comfortable and they didn’t feel too strong.

I was examined and was around 6cms. My husband returned to the hospital at around 7pm and at this point I was examined again and was at 8cm. I was very proud of myself for getting to 8cm and couldn’t have done it without all the strategies we learnt in Aimee’s course.

At around 8pm, the doctor offered me an epidural which I declined, confident I could manage without. My doctor also offered to release my waters at this point. I discussed this with my husband and we decided to agree, once my waters had been released the surges really ramped up.

At this point, my husband and I had to be quite firm with the midwives about what we wanted in terms of the position I wanted to be in etc. Luckily we felt confident and educated enough to do this.

I continued to welcome my surges for another couple of hours and then felt the urge to push. The final bit of the birth was not quite what we planned, there were bright lights and lots of people coaching me pushing. I had an episiotomy and with one huge push and down breathing Axel was with us!

He was born at 23:23 on Friday 13th January. It’s safe to say without our hypnobirthing education, my labour and birth would not have been so positive. Thank you Aimee!

Rach's birth story

VBAC

My maternity leave started on the Friday evening, I was 38 weeks, and over that weekend I’d noticed I’d lost some of my mucous plug and I had cramps that were coming and going. On the Sunday evening I had a bath and listened to the relaxation and positive affirmation audio files Aimee had sent us and felt super relaxed; that night the cramps came more frequently.

Rach's birth story

By the Monday morning things had slowed again so I went about my normal day. At 11:30pm I woke up feeling three small gushes and realised it was my waters releasing. As I was high risk, we called the hospital, and I was advised to go in. Surges were coming in waves but I was able to talk and breathe normally. After agreeing to a sweep and a vaginal examination the midwife told me I was 4cm and should stay on the consultant led labour ward.

Things had ramped up a bit and consultants were keen to get things moving along, and I agreed to the synthetic oxytocin drip which really did the trick. The breathing techniques we’d learnt allowed me to stay calm, and my husband and I were able to make every decision rationally using the BRAIN acronym to guide

us, in addition to the support of the beautiful midwives we had with us. The breathing was amazing; I also used gas and air until I got to around 7cm. I felt quite uncomfortable by this point and was exhausted.

We’d gone through our birth plan with the midwives and knew that I was starting to feel less in control, so I decided to have an epidural which really helped. I was in control of this using a button to keep it topped up when I felt I needed it. This allowed me to get some sleep as well after being in labour for such a long time. I was 10cm by around 7pm and was ready to start pushing but they realised Isaac’s head had rotated slightly. Although I’d had an epidural, it was managed so that I could still feel my surges and knew when I needed to bear down and push. After an hour of pushing and staying in the zone, feeling really in control, a consultant assessed me and due to my previous C-section birth and other complications that could arise, we decided to go into theatre for a forceps delivery. I was really upset as this point and very tired, but my husband and the staff were all amazing and picked me back up and got me over the finish line. It was really quick, not as invasive as I thought it was going to be and was only used to rotate Isaac’s head a little so I could do the rest myself. After the birth, they stitched me up and I look back on my birth as such a positive experience, I felt so in control. The hypnobirthing was a massive part and I really thank Aimee for that because without those techniques it maybe might not have felt as positive.

It was just absolutely brilliant and such a wholesome experience and one that I’ll look back on with real positivity which is amazing, so thank you very much.

Aimee's birth story

Ruben Broome – birth story

Ruben was born via emergency caesarean section on Saturday 2nd January 2021 in Doha Qatar. Even though I was so far away from family, and in a foreign country, it was one of the most amazing and positive experiences of my life all thanks to the hypnobirthing course we did in the months prior to him arriving.

Aimee's birth story

I’d been experiencing bouts of discomfort and reduced movements in the 2 weeks prior to Ruben being born and after spending the Christmas period in and out of hospital being monitored each day. We had ultrasounds and CTG monitoring and liver function tests; nothing could be found to explain how I was feeling and I was sent home.

The discomfort went up a notch on 30th January but was sporadic. I also had other symptoms including a swollen face, feet and hands, and very itchy skin on my hands and chest. I knew something wasn’t quite right.

In the early hours of Saturday 2nd January, the discomfort was so bad that it had kept me awake and at 3am I finally woke my husband and said ‘We need to go to the hospital now’; I used my BRAIN and listened to my instinct; I’m so glad I did. We arrived at the hospital and after a urine test I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and sent in an ambulance to the specialist birthing hospital (which was women only).

We had planned for a friend to be my birth partner in the case that my husband could not be there. Having a plan B and C definitely helped me remain calm and positive during, what could have been, a highly stressful and adrenaline inducing time. The room was busy with nurses, doctors and consultants rushing around me, poking and prodding at me, a CTG attached to my bump, blood pressure monitors and an oxygen mask. I used my up & calm breathing techniques to remain as relaxed as possible, and continued to visualise that my baby was safe and healthy.

Twenty minutes later Ruben’s heart rate dropped, alarms sounded and staff came running into my room. I was told I was being rushed down for an emergency C-section and that my friend Lauren should call my husband to tell him he was going to be a Dad in 30 minutes. In Qatar, most C-sections are performed without the support of a birth partner so I knew I needed to remain as calm as possible and really tried to stay in the zone using the techniques I had learnt and had practiced. Other than a slight wobble and some tears as the spinal started to kick in, I continued to breathe, and knew that in less than 10 minutes I was going to meet my baby (I was 38 weeks by this point). And there he was…a healthy weight, a head full of thick dark hair and a great set of lungs.

Investing in a hypnobirthing course is the best money we have ever spent. Hypnobirthing has literally changed my life forever and I will be eternally grateful for being able to access it. All birthing people and their partners can take away something from a hypnobirthing course; I wish it was available to everyone. It has since become my mission to make hypnobirthing available to people in the Middle East, the UK and around the world. Hypnobirthing with Aimee was also born on the 2nd of January 2021.
